4 stars-- Midnight Wolf (Shifters Unbound, #11) by Jennifer Ashley

Dammit! Ashley made me cry. I was totally holding my shit together and then page 313 (out of 314) got me. Blasted grumbly alpha males being all sweet and thoughtful. lol

I had a great time with Midnight Wolf! Ashley never fails at delivering a stellar shifter romance that'll leave a girl shivering in delight. Noms!
The Gist: Angus has been ordered--by the jerk authorities that monitor shifters-- to hunt down a wee female shifter. Fuckers actually stole his cub to force his hand. When he catches her? Well everything changes for both of them because he kinda sorta decides to keep her without even meaning to. So ensues a mad dash for safety, carnies, an abundance of hot broody sexy alpha males and a whole lot of steamy make your tummy flutter goodness. Mmhm. Oh! And cute little cubs, too.

4 stars-- Death Below Stairs (Kat Holloway Mysteries #1) by Jennifer Ashley

I just adore Jennifer Ashley's books and getting to jump into a new series? Yes, please!

Death Below Stairs was a fun adventure with a no nonsense cook and a squirly acquaintance who pull together a ragtag group of eccentrics to save the world! LOL Well, okay just a small part of it, but still!
The Gist: Kat has started a new job as a household cook and her first week? Well one of the young maids is murdered right in the house! While horrible it might be linked to an even more nefarious plot to take down the Queen herself. Unless Kat and her acquaintances can piece things together in time.

4 stars-- Red Wolf (Shifters Unbound #10) by Jennifer Ashley

Jennifer Ashley is simply amazing. Red Wolf was exciting, nerve wracking, made me laugh, made me smile, and had me falling even more in love with the Shifters Unbound series.

So, basically, there's something fishing going on in the shifter world and the leaders are... concerned. So Dimitri and Jaycee-- two of the trackers-- are sent to do what they do best...scope the scene and figure out where the danger is coming from and if one of their own has sold them out to the fae.

4 stars-- Guardian's Mate (Shifters Unbound, #9) by Jennifer Ashley

If you love shifters and haven't tried out Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series you're so in for a treat! Guardian's Mate? Total paranormal goodness complete with a sexy polar bear shifter. Noms!

The quick of it is that Rae has been chosen Guardian by the goddess. Only problem? She's practically still a cub and, well, female and there's never been a female Guardian before. And that has people nervous. Ergs! Training in her home town just isn't safe which lands her in the care of a polar bear. A polar bear who is just about as pleased about the arrangement as she is. Which is to say...not at all. lol

Just a quickie today from Jennifer Ashley's White Tiger. I had such a good time with this one. I mean, there's a kitteh shifter--he's a Tiger. Loves! He could be a little growly and the heroine a little sassy. I loved that she kinda poked at him sometimes...

Bites & Nibbles-- A Talent for Trickery by Alissa Johnson & A Mackenzie Clan Gathering by Jennifer Ashley

A Talent for Trickery (The Thief-takers, #1) by Alissa Johnson

A man of the law and the criminal he fell in love with. Murder. Encrypted messages. Secret identities and danger. A chance to right past mistakes and maybe find love and forgiveness. A Talent for Trickery was full of so much yummy historical goodness!

4 stars--The Stolen Mackenzie Bride (MacKenzies & McBrides #8) by Jennifer Ashley

highlanders, historical romance
Breathtakingly poignant. The Stolen Mackenzie Bride left me fighting back tears and wanting to fall down and have a massive sob. Beautiful, heartbreaking, passionate and utterly moving it gripped my heart and wouldn't let go.

If you've read this series this one is a bit of a throwback. All the way to Scotland 1745 and the life of the Mackenzie family ancestor, Malcolm, as he found love, fought for family, freedom and everything he held dear in the midst of an uprising between the Scottish and the English that pulled his family into the brutal battle between them.  It's a tumultuous time full of pain, loss and heartache but hope, love and determination shone through.

3.5 stars--The Scandalous Mackenzies by Jennifer Ashley

I adore Ashley's shifters and last year dug into her historicals with the Mackenzies and oh...my...yum! Fun, sexy, scandalous. Highlanders, kilts and mystery. Excellent series. The Scandalous Mackenzies is a print release of two of the previous e-book only novellas-- The Untamed Mackenzies and Scandal and the Duchess. And, as always, Ashley left me smitten.

The Untamed Mackenzie (#5.5)

It took me a little while to get into The Untamed Mackenzie. The quick of it is that Louisa has been accused of poisoning a man at a party and Lloyd (who she's rather smitten with) has come in to investigate the murder and try to find the real culprit. Which he's very much hoping is not the lovely Louisa.

Jennifer Ashley's Shifters Unbound series is one of my all time favorite para reads. I just love how her characters think, the humor, the heat. Pretty much all of it. This quote totally made me snort. The hero and heroine have been together over a decade and you could totally tell.

Bear Attraction (Shifters Unbound #6.5) by Jennifer Ashley (@BerkleyRomance)

As the military liaison between the human Shifter Bureau and Shiftertown, Walker is often stuck trying to appease both sides—and angering both. So when bear-Shifter Rebecca is captured taking a run in a restricted area, Walker comes up with a compromise: if Rebecca helps him find a missing woman—thought to have been abducted by a Shifter—she won’t be charged and executed.

As a bear used to roaming for miles, Rebecca hates being confined, distrusts anything involving humans, and—worst of all—the strong and handsome Walker starts triggering her mating need. They have no choice but to work together but both Walker and Rebecca find it hard not to mix business with pleasure…

This week is all about Jennifer Ashley and her highlanders. *swoons* Alright so these two are fairly night and day. He's lost his wife a while back and pretty much stopped living at that point and Bertie--his new love interest--is very much a vivacious and lively one and he's desperate to get that feeling. To see what she sees. I loved the final little bit of their exchange. Just made me smile and was so her.

Scandal And The Duchess (Highland Pleasures #6.5) by Jennifer Ashley

Scandal follows Rose Barclay, young widow of the Duke of Southdown, wherever she goes. It's never her fault - honor bright - but newspapers love to write about the young woman from Scotland, and the much older duke she married, who died on their honeymoon. The duke left her with a large widow's portion, now contested by his younger brother, who kicks Rose out of the estate's dower house and uses it to kennel his dogs.

Rose does *not* need to be found with a large, handsome Scot passed out at her feet, fueling gossips and giving her brother-in-law more ammunition. The Scot is Steven McBride - a decorated soldier who is notorious for heavy gambling and womanizing during his leave time. Steven is happy to open his eyes and find the beautiful woman standing over him, and happy to help spirit her away. But the journalists get wind and start a campaign to couple Rose with the scandalous Steven McBride.

Oh that was lovely! I adore Ashley's Shifters Unbound series but had yet to make it to her historicals so Scandal and the Duchess was my first taste of her Highlanders and oh my yum!
"Are you certain you wish to be hampered by a fiancee?"

Steven's look softened, as it had earlier in his bedroom, the hard man becoming a gentle one. "No man could be hampered by you, Rose."

Primal Bonds (Shifters Unbound #2) by Jennifer Ashley

When half-Fae, half-Shifter Andrea Gray flees an abusive would-be mate, the only way she is allowed to relocate to the Austin Shiftertown is if a Shifter there claims her as mate.

Sean Morrissey, the Guardian of his clan and all of Shiftertown, is mateless, lonely, and has a tough job--to send the souls of deceased Shifters into the afterworld. He volunteers to claim her, sight unseen, but doesn't realize that one look at the gray-eyed, dark-haired Andrea will stir the mating frenzy in him. Even though the mate-claim isn't finalized, official, or yet blessed, Sean will do anything to get Andrea into his life and keep her there, forever.

After losing his first mate long ago, Graham has worked hard to keep his heart in check. Besides, even if he was inclined to choose a new mate, his girlfriend, Misty, is human—a fact that won’t sit well with Graham’s old-fashioned pack.

But Misty is going through a crisis of her own, one that brings danger and death to the pack. With the wolves doubly convinced that there needs to be a shake-up, Graham must now defend his leadership and save the woman he has grown to love—before Shiftertown is pulled into an all-out war.
