I picked up my first from Kathy Hogan Trocheck aka Mary Kay Andrews when browsing audio books at my library. They had cute covers and I was up for some mystery so... I jumped in. And had a blast!

Safe at Last (Slow Burn #3) by Maya Banks

The quick of it is that years ago Zack was in love but one day she just...disappeared. And he's spent 12 years searching for her and trying to survive the heartache of not knowing what happened to her. And now he's walked into a security job and recognizes a scene from a painting hanging on the wall. One only his lost love would have been able to paint. He's found her! Only Anna-Grace...is terrified of him and he'll be damned if he can figure out why. Add in a bit of drama from some bad guys, a little life or death and trying to figure out what happened all those years ago pretty much consumes Zack's life.

Alas, sometimes a dnf happens. Here are a few that were misses for me.

Sooo. In His Keeping. Romantic Suspense meets paranormal woo-woo. Yay! How fun is that?! I had a good time with In His Keeping as Ari's life is thrown into chaos after an attack exposes her psychic abilities and she's forced to turn to Beau and his security team for help in finding her parents who have been kidnapped and in keeping her alive and safe from those hunting her. It was exciting, entertaining and had me turning the pages pretty darn quickly. I was halfway through the book before I realized and had a double take over that. lol

4 stars--Manhunt by Janet Evanovich

A woman with a talent for numbers, Alexandra Scott wanted to escape the rat race and go someplace where the men outnumber the women. Trading in her Wall Street job and fancy condo for a rundown cabin in the woods. She's now Alaskan Wilderness Woman. It isn't long before she finds exactly what she's looking for#58; one sexy pilot named Michael Casey. But this confirmed bachelor has no intentions of getting caught in any woman's crosshairs; especially a hunter as appealing as Alex. It'll take skill, determination, and a little romantic persuasion for this big-game hunter to bag her prey.

Manhunt by Janet Evanovich had me smiling the whole time I was reading. I just love her! Her characters are quirky and strong willed. Alexandra Scott drops her current life as a successful executive in New Jersey on a whim and trades her home for a "cabin" and hardware store in Alaska sight unseen, trudging cross country with a senior Rottweiler with an eating fetish that gets him in a bit of trouble. Namely flying overboard after a donut. "Michael Casey couldn't believe his eyes. That crazy broad just deep-sixed her dog!" Not only did he end up with a broken nose trying to save said dog but then got stuck with Alex, who was on the hunt for a husband, living on his mountain in a cabin that was far from livable.
