This week I'm going with a new favorite author of mine. Lilah Pace. She writes a stunning erotic and edgy series that deals with the kink of rape fantasy. A very touchy subject but she handles it in an incredibly way. The second book--Begging for It--came out recently and *noms* so good! These two quotes both gave me a chuckle...

Asking for It by Lilah Pace

Asking For It is not the read for everyone. It's dark, edgy, pushes the boundaries of what many would find acceptable. But it was...amazing! I couldn't put this one down and instantly wanted more as a risky fetish brings together two people who very much need each other.

The quick of it is that Vivienne and Jonah both have a particular need. Rape Fantasy is what does it for them. It's something they crave and have never been able to find that someone who could fulfill the need that simmers in them. Until a chance encounter brings them into each others lives. An opportunity is given. A risk taken. A craving indulged. And oh. It was scorching as these two did a little role playing, spiced things up and did a little soul searching.

Unbeautifully (Undeniable #2) by Madeline Sheehan

Warning: This is not a story about fate or destiny. This is a story about pain, sorrow, and suffering. This is an impulsive whirlwind romance between two lovers that are not meant to be together. Theirs is not a world with sunshine and roses. Instead, their love blossoms in a secret world full of crime, violence, and death. Their story is about what can be born from nightmares.

Danielle “Danny” West is the daughter of Deuce West, President of the Hell’s Horsemen Motorcycle Club. A sweet and beautiful girl, she loses her way, searching for things that are always out of her reach. Erik “Ripper” Jacobs is the Sergeant of Arms in the Hell’s Horsemen. Once a man who always had a smile on his face, his life takes a turn for the worst when a tragedy befalls him, leaving him scarred and broken. During a midsummer night, Danny and Ripper’s paths cross, forever changing their lives. Hastily, their lust turns to love until another tragedy forces them apart. On a journey that is marred with ugliness and chaos, Danny and Ripper must discover if their unforeseen connection can find the beauty in their world.

This is Danny and Ripper’s story.

Everything has beauty. Even the ugly. Especially the ugly.
Because without ugly, there would be no beauty.

If you've been around a while you know I flipping LOVED book one of this series. Undeniable got an easy 5 stars from me and damn I was so excited more books were on the way. But. I'm really torn over Unbeautifully. There were parts I really liked and that so have me craving more but there were parts that really pissed me off and had me ready to just abandon the book. There was a lot of ugly in this one. Rape, murder, cheating and betrayals. This is a pretty messed up group of people and yet overall I really did still like them and the storyline. I just had some mad hate for the heroine Danny and didn't like her much at all.

Seductive Shadows (Shadows #1) by Marni Mann

Charlie is a passionate, sensually-inspired art student, desperately seeking an escape from the abusive past that haunts her and a tragic accident that emptied her heart. Scarred and unable to love, her yearning for physical pleasure leads her into a tantalizing, dangerous world of power and seduction. The anonymity of the deal offers security; the money brings financial freedom and the madam is the mother figure she longs for.

But the thrill of the mansion and its arousing dominance quickly fades when she meets renowned-yet-mysterious Cameron Hardy, whose intense baby blue eyes send a nervous flutter through her core. Cameron is sexy, and not in a subtle way. He stimulates Charlie’s art, her intellect and her desires. Just as he begins to break through her emotional boundaries, she discovers a devastating connection between her past and her scandalous work at the mansion, shattering everything she thought to be true.

Hrm. So I'm mixed on Seductive Shadows. It was one I liked but didn't love. Enjoyed parts and was left going what the ever living fuck? over others. Loved the premise but not all the carry through and in the end was just left feeling kinda torn as a single choice late one night changes everything for Charlie and puts her life at risk.
