A Matter of Sin (The Ladies' Book of Pleasures #1) by Jess Michaels

The widowed Lady Isabel Avenbury has one remaining younger sister to shepherd into an advantageous marriage, and then she will be free. Free to take a lover to fill her lonely nights—the only option left for a woman on the delicate edge of a certain age.

Except when she chaperones her sister to a country house party, she is taken aback by her sudden, undeniable attraction to the host. And deliciously scandalized when she finds a copy of the notorious, much-gossiped-about Ladies Book of Pleasures in his library.

When Seth Rowland, Marquis Lyndham, notices his book is missing, his interest is piqued as to which of the potential young brides at his party has absconded with it—and he’s shocked to discover it’s Isabel. Though older than the women he’d planned to court, the powerful beauty exudes a sensuality he cannot ignore.

The book inspires them to begin a desperate, passionate affair. But their time together is running out and they must choose. Follow society’s rules, or take a chance at love.

Prim & proper meets naughty! There's just something so fun about that. A Matter of Sin was a delightfully charming story of a woman searching for excitement and finding something she never thought she'd have again...love and romance. Aws.

The quick of it is that Seth's mother--who is determined to see him married and carry on the family line--has invited all of the elegible young ladies from Society to a country party in hopes one of them will snag her son's eye. But it's not those oh-so-young girls but *gasp* one of the chaperones that snags his attention...no matter how inappropriate their match may be. Add in a scandalous little book about exploring a woman's pleasures that's making rounds among the ton and oh, yes, it's going to make for an interesting party indeed!

Today I'm featuring a "naughty" historical. It's a menage with f/f and m/m elements and was pretty steamy. I just loved Anna's (and gah what a fabulous name! lol) response to this. So made me smile.

Wicked Games by Angela Knight

So. Wicked Games was...an interesting anthology featuring 3 novellas/short stories from Angela Knight. She's a fairly new to me author--I've read her in a couple anthologies--but this was not really what I was expecting.

I enjoyed it to an extent. Knight easily had me wrapped up and intrigued by some pretty unique storylines. I loved the premises between each of the stories. My issue came in--and this is why I'd very, very cautiously recommend this one to only a select few--was that each of the stories has some elements of non-consent where the sexual relationship is concerned. Either very nearly walking the line of rape or in one of the novellas flat crossing it. There's also anal play in each--used as a punishment/humiliation and pain inflicted upon the heroines for the heroes pleasure/revenge. Yall know I enjoy my extreme reads but this one gave me pause in a couple spots especially where consent was involved.
The Once and Future Lover (Mageverse Novella)
4 stars 4 flames

The Once and Future Lover was my favorite of the anthology and a new release in the Mageverse series. It's how things started up it seems with King Arthur, Gwen and their group being tested and granted powers as immortals. It was easy to jump into and fun to get a new feel for King Arthur and his court. The set up was nicely done and interesting. There's magic and danger, moral dilemmas and some very hot and edgy sex. Love and forgiveness and betrayals. It was just an interesting read and I really grew to love the core group of characters quickly and want to know more about them.

Trust Me (Regency Risks #2) by Natasha Blackthorne

"Blackthorne wowed me once again with a sensual and erotic historical romance that gripped my heart and had me falling even more for Jon and Anne as they fought to keep their happily ever after..." ~herding cats & burning soup
Is she insane?

All of Mayfair is whispering the question.

Anne Lloyd, the new Countess of Ruel, thought she'd finally begun to heal from having witnessed the terrible death of her first husband. But, from her new husband's grandmother to his ex-mistresses, it is all that is on everyone's lips. What scares her more than the potential social ruin is that even she isn't sure they aren't right.

Jonathon Lloyd, the Earl of Ruel, has commanded men on the battlefield and women in the ballrooms and bedchambers with his dominant personality. It tears him apart that he can't command his wife's terrors to go away. To top it off, he has to battle his grandmother, for Anne's acceptance as the new Countess. There are times when it seems that the bloody battlefields of Europe were easier to navigate than the so-called civilized graces of Society.

There are those who will stop at nothing to tear apart the fragile bond between the newlyweds. Can Lady and Lord Ruel learn to trust each enough to keep their love, and her sanity, intact?

Trust Me was one of those books that pulled me in so completely I just wasn't ready to see end. Blackthorne wowed me, once again, with a sensual and erotic historical romance that gripped my heart and had me falling even more for Jon and Anne as they fought to keep their happily ever after while faced with gossip and so many set to tear their young marriage apart.

Mini Reviews-- A Gentleman Seduced by Sharon Page & Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard by Vanessa Kelly

Doing a couple mini-reviews today for two historicals I've read recently. One erotica--A Gentleman Seduced and one mainstream--Secrets for Seducing a Royal Bodyguard. Both were pretty entertaining...

A Gentleman Seduced by Sharon Page
Lucien Northcote, Viscount Pembroke has seen everything and done everything. Years of experimentation and decadence have left him seeking more and more extreme pleasures to find his satisfaction.

The last thing he expected was to be bewitched by an innocent. But there is just something about the masked figure watching the carnal games at Madam Ivory’s from the shadows. Her keen interest belies her maidenly blushes, and he wants nothing more than to rip the mask from this mysterious beauty, along with the rest of her clothing.

Well. The Sinners Club...was quite the surprise. A fun one. But, damn, a surprise. Starting with...a lot of male on male sex. *blinks* Yeah. I, uh, didn't see that coming. LOL Really nothing was as I expected with this one other than it being one hell of a steamy and entertaining read. The characters were charming and damaged, the romance...rather peculiar but intriguing and the storyline filled with twists and curiosities. Which was all just excellent.

The quick of it is that Jack has found out he's to inherit a title. Only when he arrives he finds the former earl's wife...pregnant with a potential heir. And his dreams of having a home of his own kind of crash down around him. But all is not as it seems on either side.

A Measured Risk (Regency Risks #1) by Natasha Blackthorne

Emotionally scarred in the horrific accident that took her husband's life, Lady Cranfield is imprisoned by her lingering terror of horses and carriages. She longed to be closer to the fascinating Earl of Ruel. She sensed intuitively that he could teach her how to overcome the terrors that held her in bondage.

And now she's willing to risk almost anything-her reputation, even her virtue-to find out. But what he proposes startles her.

When the shy, studious and socially awkward young widow approached him, Ruel instantly sensed she would be the sweetest, most submissive experience of a lifetime-if only he can gain her total and complete trust. He makes her a non-negotiable offer. His help in return for her submission and obedience.

But Lady Cranfield grew up neglected by her ducal parents, raised by servants and then later ignored by her handsome, charming husband. She's learnt to protect her heart at all costs and she trusts no one but herself.

How can the jaded Earl of Ruel break through her self-protective defenses and show her how to love when he has spent his lifetime avoiding that tender trap?

I love my historicals. I love my BDSM erotica reads. And damn putting the two together? *girly swoon* I really enjoyed A Measured Risk. It was fresh, steamy, emotional and just a heart touching romance between two very unique characters.
