Taking a Shot (Play-by-Play #3) by Jaci Burton

If you want to score, you have to get in the game...

The last thing Jenna Riley needs is more sports in her life. While her brothers are off being athletic superstars, she's stuck running the family's sports bar, whether she likes it or not. Then in walks pro hockey stud Tyler Anderson. As much as Jenna would like to go to the boards with him, she's vowed to never fall for a jock-even one as hot as Ty.

Ty, intrigued by the beautiful bar owner, becomes a regular. He senses that Jenna wants to do something more with her life. And as he gains her trust, the passion between them grows, as does Ty's insistence that Jenna should start living for herself. With his encouragement, Jenna starts to believe it, too...

But first, Jenna has to figure out what she wants, what she needs, who she loves, and if she has the passion and pride to take a shot at having it all-including Ty...

Type: Erotica, Sports Romance
Heat: 4 out of 5 (lots of yummy goodness, plus a little backdoor action)
Rating: 4-4.5 out of 5

There was a lot of quivering in Taking a Shot. All sorts of yummy bits were set a quivering in all sorts of interesting places. Jenna and Ty? Not fond of beds. At. All. If you're looking for a steamy read with pretty awesome characters and a good romance this is one to pick up. And really if nothing else that cover...definitely worth the purchase price.
"If you aren't inside me in two seconds, I'm going to bite you."
He lifted his head to look down at her. "I might like that."
These two were such an entertaining couple and the chemistry between them really dripped off the pages. They played off of each other well too with her snarky I-don't-want-another-athlete-in-my-life attitude and his confidence in getting what he wanted. There's not too much to this one outside of their relationship but it's a fun journey watching them figure it all out.

I loved Ty. He falls into the heroes you want to lick category. Badass hockey player, has a grin that'll make your knees weak, likes to take control and still has a little vulnerable spot that makes you love him even more.

And Jenna was a very interesting heroine as well. She's got tats and dyed hair, piercings in all kinds of places that'd make me flinch like hell in real life but were really flipping hot in this case. She's snarky and a little frustrated with her current life but doesn't have the courage to talk with her family about leaving the family business and doing something else. I loved watching her change throughout the book because of Ty and finding her new path.

I really liked her but Ooo she messes up real good when it came to Ty and all I could think was "bitch move aside! If you don't want him I do!!!" with maybe a little added shoving involved. Oy yeah he's hot and I loved everything about the man. Turns out hockey players really work for me ;) Like I said earlier there was a lot of quivering in this one. The sex scenes are hot and abundant. If you've ever been curious about having sex on an ice rink, yeah, you'll find out how. LOL [this is one that never would have crossed my mind- hello! COLD!]

One of the things, outside of Ty and Jenna, that I really enjoyed about the story was the dynamic between Jenna's family and her soon to be sisters-in-law (from the previous books). The women are all so different from the sweet, gentle Tara to Liz who is bold and in your face calling it like is is. I loved all the scenes with the three of them together. You couldn't help but smile over how they all interacted.

If you're looking for a hot, sexy romp with a decent love story to back it up Jaci Burton is a master and she definitely didn't disappoint with Taking a Shot.

What say you? Have you tried the Play by Play series? Read Ty and Jenna's story?
