Rogue Rider (Lords of Deliverance #4) by Larissa Ione + giveaway

Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues - and falls for - a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man that Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man that can be very dangerous . . .

Reseph may not know his background, or why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbours are killed and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world with death and destruction, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?

That was just... I mean...daaaamn, that was good! I absolutely love the worlds Ione creates and how easily I'm sucked right into them. They're completely captivating with delectable characters, emotional turmoil that will have you in knots and excellent twists and turns that'll have your jaw dropping. And Rogue Rider was pretty much all of that with a bit of sexiness, danger and a touch of humor mixed in. Everything that makes for a blasted good read in my opinion.

So, I've got something to admit with this one. I'm totally reading the series out of order. <gasp>. I know, I know. So I came into Rogue Rider pretty free and clear when it came to Reseph and his less than stellar moments as Pestilence.  And I loved the man right from the start. He's sexy as hell, funny, sings and is just all together drool-worthy. It's pretty easy to guess how things were before and I loved how Ione decided to handle Reseph's story. Wiping his memory and pretty much tossing him to earth to heal.
His struggles and inner battle as he discovered who he was and what he'd done in the past was heart breaking and oh my word it was so hard watching the other characters from his past interacting with him. They're rightfully wary of him but gah it was so hard to see him trying, dealing with his own guilt and finding no support from the people he loved. I seriously wanted to pinch the hell out of the lot of them and just wrap him in a hug and protect him from everything that was happening around him.

I really loved Jillian as much as I did Reseph. She's a damn strong woman and deals with a hell of a lot really well. I couldn't believe her strength in dealing with some of the realizations she and Reseph made about his past. The two were pretty fantastic together too. I loved all of the little moments between them. When they were feeling each other out, dealing with their attractions and fears and whew, the sexy bits. Yum!
Harnessing his libido--barely-- he hauled Jillian to her feet, ripped open her jeans, and jerked them down to where they tangled around her boots. He didn't need her completely free to move around. Sometimes, a little bondage was a good thing.
The only thing that was a little eh for me was the ending. The huge showdown. Reseph's big test. The ultimate battle of good vs evil... was just a little too anticlimactic in the end and left me in one of those "wait, wha?! that's it?" kinda places. Okay, so maybe I'm a blood thirsty hellcat but had to knock off a little on the rating for that. But damn if I'm not dying for more from Ione and so damn flipping excited to see Demonica's coming back with Reaver's story. Oh, yeah. I'm all over that!
