Mmmm. Butter.
All you need is heavy whipping cream and a pinch of salt.
How simple is that?!
Start on a medium/low speed so the cream doesn't splatter everywhere.
It'll start to get really fluffy like you're making whipped cream for a dessert topping.
You can up the mixer speed once the cream thickens a little.
Then just....Keep going.
It'll start to lose it's "fluffy" look and get thicker.
At around the 10 minute mark you'll start to hear some sloshing. Turn down the mixer so you won't get splattered. The butter will start to separate and leave a good bit of liquid behind.
Keep on mixing until butter consistency happens then move to a new container and drain/press out the excess liquid.
I love making butter and do so often. It's so good on fresh bakery bread. Yum!
I was really surprised the first time that butter is naturally a pale yellow. I love that!
I always thought a little dye was added in but nope.
Plain old white whipping cream and white salt give you a nicely yellowed butter.
The recipe is a bit flexible since you can make it as salty or sweet as you like.
I'm going to give honey butter a try sometime soon I think.
